I've been photographing, drawing and painting on and off for most of my life in an amateur capacity. In my younger days, my drawings and watercolours were done seated on a small folding chair with sketchbooks or easel, ink, paper, colours, brushes, pens and all the associated paraphernalia close to hand. In 2018 I tried out the paint program ArtRage, and my early illustrative work was done using that program - with my Mac Book, and a Wacom Intuos tablet and stylus. In early 2020 I bought a top end iPad Pro and Apple pencil, and started painting with the ProCreate program. Outdoor scenes are documented by high quality reference photographs. No more dodging weather and enduring traffic fumes - except to get to the pub!
In 2023 I was presented with the Mary Garside Award for the Best Paintings in the Henfield Art Club's 40th Annual Exhibition, as voted for by visitors to the show. The painting was The Old Port Road - which you can see in the "Landscapes" section.
