Prints - Painted Lady (Vanessa Cardui)

Pastel and airbrush were used to create this painting of a Painted Lady butterfly - caught along with many other species on a Buddleia tree one hot August afternoon. ArtRage has a "stickies" tool, the settings of which contain little motifs which can be sprayed across the canvas. I used the "particles" setting to create the grain on the underside of the butterfly's wing with the light shining through it.
